I discovered the game 4 years ago. I fell in love with it and invested a lot of time playing it. Today, I simply consider that I wasted a lot of time on "an addiction" that doesn't give me any practical return. I rarely play in person with colleagues. I don't play online anymore, I just don't trust the "general honesty" of playing fair. Cheating is a huge problem in the community, however, it is treated as a restricted and small problem. It was difficult to stop the "addiction", but it was necessary. I was stressing myself out too much.

But there's no trap if 4. Be2 g6!! and Black is getting his King to safety?! Or is there?! hmmmm! And using a computer means these traps generally don't come off, especially in Correspondence games!

I love that 3rd line because as a player hovering in the mid 900s who faces the london all the time, I feel that so many of the opponents that use it have no actual idea what to do when confronted with decisions early on. The quicker I can get it to "pure chess" as Magnus says the better, and this line accomplishes that without giving away a huge advantage or anything. Thanks for the vid!

So, only the grandmasters of the highest level can go up against Stockfish and have a chance at a win. Can a human beat Stockfish? It is near impossible for any human to defeat Stockfish in a game of chess, and no human chess player has yet been able to beat Stockfish, WITHOUT CHEATING. It seems that the same engine is stronger by roughly 80 Elo when run on 4CPU instead of 1CPU.. ♥

Great work but you didn't actually play against Stockfish. The engine that users can play against on Lichess is actually Fairy-Stockfish, a chess variant engine that is much weaker than Stockfish. Winning against Stockfish at maximum strength is impossible. Stockfish level 8 (on Lichess) makes mistakes.

In my experience trying this a few times, as soon as the white bishop takes the pawn on d3, black simply moves queen to d5, removing the fork and covering the f7 pawn. I’m not very experienced…but this appears to end the attack more thoroughly than moving a pawn to e6. I have to then work a new plan.

If you get the trap setup with white two moves from castling I think it's move 11. You can play bishop to b7. When you jump on the pawn with your knight white is almost obligated to take before castling and it allows for an altered endgame. You can still smash a3 with the rook and when White's queen moves backrank you can take with the dark square bishop. If they capture the bishop both sides keep their Rooks. If they take the rook you take back in the corner. After White's queen captures, with black's light square bishop on b7 you can swing the Queen over to g4 protecting g7 and posing a mating threat. After the f pawn moves you can snag the e pawn with check. This leaves you with two passers and White's kingside a bit jumbled and doubled flank pawns. Equal material but black's pawn structure objectively better. Just be sure to castle instead of trying to gobble the "unprotected" bishop. I'm curious what the computer evaluation of this position is. There are still some backrank tricks available and it shouldn't be too hard for black to control the queening square.

In that position you said white to play and save game if black instead of what you showed played Bxh5 and recaptures h3 with g pawn (should white make such move) black gains another passer, gets his bishop out of check danger, and should be fine, possibly winning.
